School Improvement Team
School Improvement Teams are required by North Carolina law to develop school improvement plans. The team is comprised of the principal; an assistant principal; an elected parent representative(s) from the Parent Teacher Association (PTA); two elected, certified teachers from each grade level; two elected representatives from school counselors, media coordinator and special education; two elected representatives from CTE, PE, and fine arts; and one elected representative from non-certified personnel.
The General Assembly of North Carolina views parental involvement as a critical component of school success and positive student achievement. It is the intent of North Carolina that parents, along with teachers, have a substantial role in developing school improvement plans. [NC General Statutes 115C-105.27]. Buncombe County Schools encourage and endorse shared decision making as evident in our mission statement, Core Values and various policy directives.

Meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 3:15 in the Office Conference Room unless otherwise stated. All meetings are open to the public as required by law.
Buncombe County Schools is in the process of reviewing its website to ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
