Students and parents,

I am excited to teach English Language Arts at Valley Springs Middle School this year. I am a proud alumna of the TC Roberson district (Class of 2004), and assistant coach of the TC Roberson High School swim team.
In 2008, I earned B.A.s in English Literature and American History from UNC Chapel Hill and promptly returned to my home in the mountains, working in the marketing and the non-profit industries for 10 years.

In 2015, I enrolled at UNC Asheville to earn my post baccalaureate teaching licensure in Social Studies and English Language Arts.

Last year I worked with Erwin Middle School's eighth grade social studies program, and look forward to working with the students at VSMS to foster a greater love of reading in addition to developing functional skills in reading, writing, and grammar. It is my goal that all students garner an appreciation for (or deeper respect of) reading, and develop stronger functional literacy skills.

The best form of contact is via email to

I will update student grades in Power School weekly (generally Fridays).

Outside of the classroom, I write part time for the Biltmore Beacon and Waynesville Mountaineer newspapers, in addition to spending a considerable amount of time mountain biking, backpacking, kayaking, and hiking with my hound dog, Callie.
