Mr. Bob Washel, Assistant Principal

Hi, My name is Bob Washel, and I am the half-time assistant principal at Valley Springs. My education career began in 1972 at A.C. Reynolds High School. During my fifteen years there, I taught English, coached the women's basketball team (14 yrs.), coached the golf team (5 yrs.), and served as the English Department Chairperson (9 yrs.). From there, I moved into several administrative positions, which included high school assistant principal and principal, middle school principal, Director of the Buncombe County Schools Foundation, and Assistant Superintendent - all in Buncombe County. Most recently, I have had the pleasure to work with an amazing staff at Valley Springs Middle School.

Educationally, I received a BA in English from Warren Wilson College, a Masters degree in School Administration from Western Carolina University (WCU), Certification in Curriculum and Supervision from WCU, and an EdS from WCU. Additionally, I graduated from the UNC Principal's Executive Program, as well as from Leadership Asheville, UNCA/Asheville Chamber of Commerce.

Although I am the oldest staff member on campus, my love and desire is to continue the quest to make a difference in young people's lives. My hobbies are golf, photography, and reading.

I am married to my beautiful wife, Teri, have one son, Wes, and a daughter-in-law, Megan.
