A little about me....
I am starting my 11th year as a School Counselor in Buncombe County. I have worked at several schools:  Estes Elementary, North Buncombe Elementary, Glen Arden Elementary, Koontz Intermediate and now Valley Springs Middle School.
I have experience as a high school teacher and coach (Varsity Girls Softball, Varsity Girls and Boys Tennis, Varsity Girls Basketball and even Soccer Club) for the first 8 years of my 18+ year career in education. I have been fortunate to work in the Roberson District with wonderful families and their children throughout my employment with Buncombe County Schools.
I earned my Bachelors Degree from Western Carolina University (BSEd in Physical Education K-12) and my Masters Degree from Eastern Kentucky University (MAEd in School Counseling K-12).
Doing my part to help children develop socially, emotionally, academically with a strong focus on career and college preparation is what I do. I am excited about our journey as this year's 8th grade group will be my last 6th graders from Koontz! I can't wait to experience VSMS culture and learn from some of the finest administrators, educators and support staff in North Carolina!
My door is always open to our families, our community and most especially our students.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama speaks at ASCA 2014
Former First Lady #reachhigher has been an inspiration to thousands of School Counselors when she spoke at our annual conference in 2014 on Disney World's Campus. It not only inspired me, but it challenged me as well to do all that I can to touch the lives of our students while we have them.
Here is the link to the video.I will continue to keep this on my site. Inspired by her!
