Students decorate cupcakes at Cane Creek Middle School

Buncombe County Schools will give middle school students a chance to sample more career choices this summer. Additional Career Accelerator Summer Camp programs have been added for July, produced by the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department. The camps are free and available to rising sixth, seventh, and eighth graders currently enrolled in Buncombe County Schools. They include:

  • Cupcakes at the Creek: This culinary camp, hosted by Cane Creek Middle School, will help students grow their teamwork and creative culinary skills. The camp runs July 8 - 11, July 15 - 18, and July 22 - 25.

  • Agriculture Camp: These special one-day camps will give students a day of fun, hands-on activities to sample agriculture classes, and the types of careers available in the field. Students can attend one or all six of these daily sessions. They take place at Owen High School July 9, North Buncombe High School July 10, A.C. Reynolds High School July 11, Erwin High School July 22, T.C. Roberson High School July 24, and Enka High School July 25.

  • Career Quest Camp: Based at Cane Creek Middle School, this camp will run July 29 - Aug. 1. Students will get to sample jobs in a variety of fields, including construction, robotics, nutrition, and health science.
