Hey 6th Graders! Thinking about trying out for sports next year? Whether it’s football, soccer, volleyball, tennis, cross country, or cheer, your journey to the team starts right now.

In middle school, playing sports is a privilege you earn in the classroom. Important Academic Change: Students are not automatically eligible to play when they start the 7 th grade. They must meet the following specific requirements during the Spring 2026 semester to be cleared for Fall 2026 sports.

  • Requirement 1: Be in School (Attendance) To be eligible for the team you have to be in class.

    • The Rule: You must attend at least 85% of the total school days during the Spring 2026 semester.

    • What that means: In a standard 90-day semester, you cannot miss more than 13 days for any reason.

    • Pro Tip: Every day counts, excused and unexcused absences both impact this total.

  • Requirement 2: Pass your Classes (Grades) Your performance on the field/court depends on your performance in your classes.

    • The Rule: You must pass at least 70% of your classes during the last 9 weeks of the Spring semester to be eligible (2 or more failing grades on N4 = ineligible).

    • Pro Tip: Don’t let up during the last 9 weeks of the spring Semester.
